Lot: 5 - Charleston Renaissance School

Dated 1927. Watercolor and ink on paper illustrating an African American gentleman working with baskets of cotton. No signature detected but lower right giving location of Charleston March 24, 1927. Good condition. H8 1/2" W6 1/2" Sold from the collection of a private Southern scholar and collector.

(South Carolina, 20th century) Watercolor, ink and graphite on paper signed lower right giving location of Charleston and date of 1950. The piece is unframed. H19 3/4" W14 1/4" Sold from the collection of a private Southern scholar and collector.

Lot: 7 - John Bennett

(South Carolina/Ohio, 1865-1956) Original cutout silhouette laid down on paper titled, "The Giant Started at Little Peter in Amazement." H9 1/4" W14 3/4" The illustration was used in the book The Gittail of Ah Lee Ben Loo, by John Bennett found on page 93. The piece was given to the current owner by Betty Hamilton, Elizabeth O'Neill Verner's daughter. Professionally conserved by Ginny Newell of Columbia, South Carolina.

(Wilmington, North Carolina, 20th century) Oil on canvas colorful mountain landscape signed lower right. Good condition. H24" W29 1/2" (without gilt frame) Sold from the collection of a private Pennsylvania/Coastal South Carolina lady and gentleman.

Lot: 9 - Benson B. Moore

(Washington D.C./Florida, 1882-1974) Original pencil signed etching of Florida beach scene, signed lower left and dated 1950. Some slight yellowing but this is minimal. Good overall condition and having not been laid down. H6 1/2" W7 1/2" (without matt and frame) Sold from the collection of Florida/South Carolina gentlemen.

Lot: 10 - Southern Impressionist School

Dated 1921 and signed on verso South Carolina. Excellently rendered oil on board of two African American gentleman walking mules with a cart behind a nearby farm. The piece is signed lower right but it is difficult to determine the signature. H8" W10" Sold from the collection of a private Southern scholar and collector.

Lot: 11 - George Frank Higgins

(Massachusetts, b 1850) Large oil on canvas valley landscape with lake, farm and town in distance of hill country. Very nicely executed example. Signed lower right. The piece has been professionally conserved likely in the early 20th century. There is a small puncture in the lower right quadrant, otherwise good condition. (Vermont/California, 1850-1903) Oil on canvas autumn river landscape of a large size. Very nicely rendered piece signed lower right. The piece having been professionally conserved at some point and then backed with board. Nicely framed. H49 1/2" W29 1/4" (without frame) Sold from the private collection of a Charlotte, NC lady.

Lot: 13 - John Huszer

(Maine/Rhode Island, early 20th century) Oil on canvas titled, "Bass Fisherman." Housed in an early 20th century frame. The piece depicts coastal striped bass fisherman in twilight on the rocks. Nicely rendered example. Some crazing to surface, no restoration detected. H33 1/2" W45 1/2" Sold from the collection of a private Pennsylvania/Coastal South Carolina lady and gentleman.

Circa 1880. Handsomely executed woolwork picture of the Scottish Ship Loch Torridon 1880-1915. The piece has fine colors and is a well detailed rendering of the four-masted cargo ship. Early 19th century, by Anna Browning. Very nicely rendered example having well detailed flora and animal trim, the piece was completed by Browning at the age of 12 years. Lot: 36 - Important Handmade Canoe by Bob Belyea

20th century, Potsdam, New York. The canoe is one of ten that Mr. Belyea produced and this is numbered ten. The exceptionally crafted vessel is accompanied by its original paddle. Precise choices of maple in curly and tiger. Very good, well cared for condition. L13.5 ft W33" H20" The boat is sold from the personal collection of Mr. Belyea's Godson. Mr. Belyea is also known for his work in Decoys and is considered to be one of New York's finest decoy craftsmen of his time.

Lot: 57 - Rare Enamel Advertising Gas Station Thermometer

Early 20th century. Spa soda advertising thermometer having been used as a prop in the 2002 film, "The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood." The piece was used next to the entry way door of the filling station in the film. Very nice example in good overall condition. Some slight wear to edges consistent with age. Lot: 64 - Antique Pressed Metal Lifesize Turtle Spittoon

United States Historical Society cased pistols modeled after those found now at West Point. The pair is in excellent condition and accompanied by all documentation and original pamphlets. The pair is number 35 of 975. L13 1/2" each

Lot: 70 - Antique Carved & Painted Blue Wing Teal Duck Decoy

Early 20th century, likely Coastal North Carolina origin. The piece having been elegantly carved with a sweeping somewhat spooned bill on sweeping head and neck attached to a nicely carved body. Stampede lithograph laid down on masonite by James Clymer. The piece was produced to hang in Chrysler dealerships and on verso has a label reading, " A merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year." Very original as found condition. Early 20th century. Store advertising piece for the brand, "Stork Pants." The piece is made to hold a baby's diaper in its beak. The stork stands at 44 1/2" tall and has its original painted surface. Lot: 80 - Pine Wall Hanging Half Hull Racing Yacht America

Mid 20th century. Having been nicely carved and shaped with original brass title plate at the front. L26 5/8" H8 1/2" D5" Sold from the collection of a Charleston lady.

Lot: 81 - Louisiana Rosewood Plantation Bed by Maylard

Prudent Mallard (active 1838-1874) The piece has a fine form with tall post at backside and brilliantly carved frame and half tester above. The piece is being sold from the original owners family and its history is as follows. The bed was first owned by Anna Elizabeth Wynn Garner and her husband Col. George Gibson Garner who lived at 5005 St. Charles Ave. in New Orleans. Their home there was built as a wedding gift to them in 1868 by her father Col. William Lewis Wynn of Columbus Ga. The three of them are interred in the Wynn Mausoleum in Lafayette Cemetery #1 in New Orleans. The house is now occupied by the private womenÕs club, ÒThe Orlean ClubÓ. The bed then moved to Jackson, MS. at 647 N. State St, the home of Garner's grandson Garner Wynn Green, Sr., a prominent mineral and utilities attorney. Built in 1910, hIs home is on the National Register of Historic Places. The home contained two Mallard beds and a bed by Charles Lee of Manchester, MA. Sold from the collection of a Pinehurst, NC gentleman and lady.

Lot: 82 - Southern Chippendale Walnut China Cupboard

Late 18th century, likely Central North Carolina. Having a molded crown above two large glazed doors opening to shelves within the top of which has excellent spoon holders cut out. The top rests on the lower case having three drawers above three hinged doors all atop four bracket feet. Secondary wood is poplar, walnut and yellow pine. H93 1/2" W73" D21" Recently discovered in a Columbia, South Carolina family collection.
